MUMMY AND DAUGHTER DATE IDEAS!
My oh my! Over the last few weeks my regular nine-to-five has been more of a twenty-four-seven. I have had a massive project to complete which has meant I’ve had barely any time to spend with my kiddos.
Other than snuggles, cuddles and chit-chat’s before bedtime, I have been glued to my laptop. Sob, sob.
As the end was in sight, I asked my daughter to make a list of things she liked doing with just me. I knew she’d been craving quality girlie time so I wanted her to know that I was going to make amends as soon as humanly possible. But I wanted to make sure we got to do something she really wanted to do, and not something I thought she’d want to do.
The list she gave me was quite amusing, and I wanted to share it with you guys. Maybe you’re also looking for some ways to make your mini-me happy.
Here goes…
- Mugg and Bean
- Shopping
- Pillow making
- Park
- Movies
- Go to the market
- Toy shops
- Buying clothes
- Book writing
- Reading
- Making stuff with you
- Getting your charger
- Sort out wardrobe
- Watching Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn
- Watching iCarly
Not quite sure why ‘getting your charger’ is in there as I always get a moan when I ask her if she can fetch it for me. But it made me giggle. It also made me realise that she really must be needing attention from me, no matter what form she received it in.
My heart broke a little at that point.
Kids really do need us.
More than they will admit sometimes. And definitely more than we realise.
I’m with my kids on a daily basis as I work from home. Yet even though I’m with them, I’m not with them.
My son doesn’t seem as fussed. He’s happy if I lie with him while he falls asleep at night. But my daughter needs special, focused one-on-one time. It’s vital for her emotional well-being.
My project finished three days ago and we’ve already done four things in the list. My daughter understood how busy I was, but now she understands how important she is too.
What’s your favourite way to spend time with your mini-me?
